Left in the desert.
It was my fender. That's what was left. We watched the weather. We knew the altitude. We set the tracks. And yet, we still went. It was cold. I was cold pretty much all weekend. I had some great riding, and I enjoyed the sights. But the rain and hail and mud were not what I wanted. Plus, early dark and cold at camp really isn't that great. Though we made the best of it with poker under the easy up. Thankfully Alan brought the easy up.
North Eagle Lake campground was great. Nicest vault toilet you'll ever use. Guest book in there. Justin left a motosandjeeps sticker in it with a nice handwritten note. Good place. Alan and I found the marina market, and it was great. So there is some great stuff around. Beautiful country. Deer season. Neighbor dad brought over the kids to look at the bikes. I let them sit on mine. See pic. Overall, great camp spot.
Friday was good though. But we were actually a little cold on Humbug summit. Then Raf and Rig started having some electronic issues. Hmmm....would it matter. Yeah. It did on Saturday. But everyone made it to camp, nobody was hurt, Pete lost a fender, Rig got a new battery, and all was well. I super enjoyed my personal slow departure on Sunday. Then lunch with Raf and Alan at the Timber Lodge. Then some open road on the 32 home to haul me some ass. But it was still cold, so there's that.
Maybe this time of year we do the airbnb thing? Poker around a kitchen table. Warm beds. You get it. Seems sensible. I'm done with rain, snow, and mud. Super done. But that's just me. Carry on if you like that stuff.
Until next time. Cheers.
